Delete your Space account

This page explains how to delete your Space account and everything stored with it.

Delete your account in the app

The fastest way, and it takes effect immediately.

• Open Space and sign in
• Go to Settings
• Tap Delete account
• Confirm

Your account and its data are removed from our live systems straight away. There is nothing else to do afterwards.

Delete your account without the app

If you can no longer open Space, you do not need to reinstall it. Email hello@spaceapp.me from the email address on your account, with the subject Delete my Space account.

We will confirm the request and delete the account. Requests are handled within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Delete only part of your data

You do not have to close your account to have data removed. Email hello@spaceapp.me from the address on your account and say what you would like deleted, for example your availability history or your profile photo. We will confirm the request and delete it. Requests are handled within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Two things you can do yourself in the app, without asking us:

• Remove someone from your circle. You both stop seeing each other's availability straight away.
• Change your profile photo in Settings, at any time.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

• Your profile: name, email address, phone number and profile photo
• Your circle, including every connection and any tags you added
• Your availability history: every Space you have turned on, its duration, connection types and visibility
• Your activity records: notification logs and connection taps
• Your push notification identifier, so no further notifications can reach you
• Your sign-in credentials, including any Google sign-in link

What is kept, and for how long

• Encrypted backups. Copies of your data may remain in routine encrypted backups for up to 30 days after deletion, after which they are overwritten.
• Legal records. We keep limited records for longer only where the law requires it.

Nothing is retained for advertising, analytics or profiling. Space does not sell data and shows no ads.

Phone numbers from your contacts

When you use the contacts feature to find people you already know, the phone numbers you choose are checked against existing Space accounts and then discarded. They are never stored, so there is nothing to delete.

Removing one person instead

If you only want to stop sharing with someone, you do not need to delete your account. Remove them from your circle in the app and you both stop seeing each other's availability.
